Ahana Gautam on Resilience over Failure
About Project
This project is an end-to-end production showcasing a high-impact narrative for Open Secret, featuring founder Ahana Gautam. As the sole creator, I handled the entire pipeline—from the initial video edit to the complex 2D motion graphics and immersive sound design. The goal was to transform a standard podcast/interview format into a dynamic, data-driven story that highlights business resilience and growth metrics. By integrating stylized character animations with real-world business data, I bridged the gap between raw interview footage and a high-end brand documentary. This project was done for Midas Studio.

Challenges
Visualizing Abstract Data: The biggest hurdle was taking “₹50 Crores revenue with -47% EBITDA” and making it understandable and visually “painful” to represent failure, contrasted against the “4% profitable” success.
Maintaining Pacing: Keeping a high-energy flow while the speakers discuss serious business pivots required a tight marriage between the sound design and the motion triggers.
Hybrid Aesthetics: Seamlessly blending live-action footage with flat 2D vector illustrations without the transition feeling jarring to the viewer.
MY APPROACH
I rigorously storyboarded the motion sequences against the audio spikes. When the speaker mentions specific brands or revenue numbers, the visuals (like the brand tree or the growing bar charts) appear exactly on the beat to reinforce the information. I used sound design not just as background music, but as a narrative tool. Subtle "whooshes" and "pops" for the animation layers were synced to give the motion a tactile, high-quality feel.
